Conveyor technology for the packaging industry

A major industry currently undergoing growth is packaging. It involves the interaction of all the processes such as materials science, production and transport logistics. This market is essential for the storage and transport of all goods and thus forms an important link between production and the consumer.

Our customer is a mid-sized company and manufactures packaging machines, which are used subsequently to process stretch films. This raw material stretch film, which is wound on huge bails and used later for wrapping other goods, has to be transported on a conveyor system. On this transport system the rollers were replaced with our rollers, thus avoiding a complete replacement of the system. Our customer also placed special emphasis on rollers of high-quality materials and a specified concentricity tolerance, which should not exceed a maximum value.

The material that runs over the rollers is very sensitive and means the rollers’ antistatic properties are essential. The first choice for this contract was rollers made of stainless steel with a ground tube and plastic bottoms. This design ensures gentle handling of the sensitive film to be conveyed at high speed. The bearing is made of stainless steel precision bearings with a double-sided 2RS seal and additional axial securing of the rollers. The axles had a specified length tolerance.

Special features of the conveyor belt for packaging

The transport equipment of this packaging machine was fitted for this project with rollers from our standard range, which meant the financial outlay was kept at a very moderate level. After coordination and explanation of the problem by the technical department, the project was completed immediately and promptly.

TRAPOROL does not carry out any maintenance work on supplied and operational rollers, as we believe they should be regarded as parts subject to wear and tear. In return for this, we offer our customers contracts to ensure deliveries of rollers at short notice in the requested amounts to guarantee ongoing production. As a result, there are no production downtimes, as defective rollers can be replaced at short notice.

Conveyor belts for packaging machines must sometimes be able to carry out movements along curved sections in addition to linear movements. To achieved curve-shaped movements, conical rollers are used. With these, it is possible to pass through different sized curve radii within certain limits.

With our extensive stock of standard rollers, we can also deal with and respond flexibly to specific customer requirements. This flexibility is also characterized by various axle designs, which can be used as optional extras.

Conclusion

Our customers welcome and appreciate the high quality of our rollers. This is not least due to the recognizable increase in efficiency and performance achieved at our customers’ production facilities when they use our products. The ease of installing our flexibly designed rollers with their many design versions enables existing conveyor systems to continue to be used in many cases. It is often sufficient to equip an existing conveyor system with our products, which in addition reduces conversion costs considerably. The versatility of our rollers also enables increases in the flexibility of conveyor systems to move all kinds of different products, which is becoming increasingly important.

We provide our customers with performance to the fullest extent. This includes quoting, project management, procurement, contract drafting with scheduled quantities and delivery dates. In addition, our coordination of delivery methods with forwarding agents and special packaging ensures we avoid transport damage and achieve optimum order processing. Our customers therefore received a comprehensive service from us, which contributes to the success of our positive business relationship.
